Correctional Center Counseling


Since January 2020, Maureen has been providing individual counseling to international detainees at Richwood Correctional Center. Prior to this, she worked as an individual and group counselor for women who were survivors of domestic violence as well as incarcerated women. Maureen has worked as a counselor in hospital settings as well as outpatient settings. Maureen’s greatest joy involves being with animals. She has training in Equestrian therapy and is a former Senior Zookeeper at the Louisiana Purchase Gardens and Zoo in Monroe. As a wildlife advocate, she volunteers at Black Bayou Lake National Wildlife Refuge. Maureen is a graduate of the University of Louisiana at Monroe with a Master of Education in Community Counseling, and she also holds a Bachelor of General Studies with minors in Art, Psychology and Criminal Justice.
